Since hair is one’s crowning glory, it is very important to an individual’s perception of his attractiveness and image to the public. Self-esteem, self-worth and many other aspects that depict a person’s quality of life are affected when hair loss ensues.
Many studies have proven that people who do not have problems with hair loss are the ones that are viewed as attractive, desirable, and even successful. Those who lose their hair, on the other hand, are older less desirable to most people. The only positive thing that people see from hair loss is the look of wisdom that it provides. Fortunately, people are not shunned from the society all because they are bald. There have been no recorded instances of employment discrimination due to hair loss. Also, many political candidates have their votes despite being bald.

Although the society does not abhor balding individuals, there is an unspoken agreement that people who have less hair are not a good sight to behold. Women are more prone to become depressed because of hair loss. They are also likely to feel ashamed about their condition. When this feeling of worthlessness worsens, it turns into bouts of anxiety, depression, and even feelings of committing suicide.
Women also tend to feel more uncomfortable in the presence of other people when they don’t have hair to flaunt. This is the opposite when it comes to men who are suffering from hair loss. Men were observed to have minor concerns on their social status and what the public thinks of them generally. Some can even crack jokes about their condition. But generally, men do not suffer too much from loss of self-esteem and other psychological problems. The only thing that makes men uncomfortable about their hair loss condition is the feeling of being unattractive. There are very few cases of men who actually become depressed because of hair loss.
There are many factors that may cause the loss of self-worth among balding men. These factors include their marital status, age, and the extent of the hair loss.
Not all people who are experiencing hair loss are worried about their condition. This is evident of the numerous people who have not sought the help of a medical professional when it comes to their hair loss problems. Sometimes, the feeling of worthlessness all depends on the person’s general well-being and attitude. So, a person who is generally jovial is less likely to suffer from depression or even the loss of self-esteem.
Although some people might not care too much about hair loss, it is still imperative to ask the help of a medical professional so that proper treatment could be done. There are now many forms of treatment that can be utilized to prevent further hair loss. The treatments can be natural (using herbs), in surgical form, transplants, or it can be in the form of creams and pills. Some even rely on wigs to mask the problem. But some cases of hair loss can be reversed and a physician is the only one who can give an expert advice on this. Hair loss should never be taken lightly and self-medication should never be practiced.
Whether one chooses a liquid adhesive as opposed to a tape is truly a personal choice but it also has a great deal to do with the attachment wanted as well as the base material and often a combination of both tape and adhesive is used.

If a hair wearer has problems with sensitive skin or is recovering from an outbreak due to a reaction to another tape or adhesive there is now available a tape that actually has a medicated factor that will help to heal the skin while giving the hair wearer a light hold.
Adhesives have long been the favorite for permanent attachments. They can be latex based, resin based, silicone based or acrylic based and each has its own function, good qualities and bad qualities. Latex adhesives aren’t used much these days. The original latex adhesives were made with natural latex which is rubber. This was an effective material but could often result in a toxic allergic reaction so the adhesives people have since replaced this with synthetic latex. Latex is soft and pretty comfortable to wear but it can bleed when the wearer perspires with a milky appearance and is not so easy to get out of hair and base materials. Resin based adhesives are softer and great for grafting where the system is completely adhered to the head. Good quality resin based adhesives stay soft and pliable and by nature should absorb the body oils and perspiration during the duration of its hold. The hold time for these products is about 21 days. Silicone adhesives are the most costly but the safest for use on skin. They are clear, stay soft and will work on many types of bases including lace. The use of silicone adhesive on lace works well because it is water resistant affording a longer hold time, it dries clear and can’t be seen through the lace making it very popular among lace wearers and those with lace fronts. Acrylic adhesives are hard drying but have the longest hold. In the class of acrylics is “Crazy Glue” and we all know the type of hold you can get with that. When using acrylic adhesives tape is also incorporated and is placed on the perimeter of a system to make clean up and removal easier but if the adhesive gets on the base or the hair it is impossible to get out.
The bottom line is that it will take a few tries for any hair wearer to find the right tape, adhesive or combination that will work for them. Always be sure to test the adhesive or tape by placing a small amount behind your ear on the skin and wait 24 hours to be sure there is no negative reaction.
